Common causes of dog bites

Let`s say, for example, that you let your dog sit on your wife`s laps when your child is present, just to show your dog that it is still loved equally. This is anthropomorphizing the dog, meaning you’re treating the dog as human. But this is wrong!

From the dog`s point of view, allowing it to sit on top of another "pack member" is a message about their status in the pack and it means “you, dog, are more important and higher in rank than this child”. This is obviously not the case, but you are sending wrong messages to your dog, because the dog feels that it’s allowed to challenge the child in future occasions.

Such cases of dominance, as well as protective instinct and fear aggression are the most common causes of dog bites amongst children.
